Dedicated Managed Firewall and VPN Service

For basic firewall and VPN service, A Slice of the Cloud will install, configure, and support your dedicated security appliance (DSA) with inspection, filtering and VPN connectivity.  We also provide rule change and other admin services through our support team.

Managed Firewall and Intrusion Detection and Prevention System

For more advanced security needs, A Slice of the Cloud will integrate a managed intrusion detection and prevention system (MIDPS) with your DSA.  This system adds extra layers of protection to detect anomalous, inappropriate and otherwise flagged data that may be considered unauthorized on your network.

We configure a traditional firewall to allow/deny access to particular services and hosts, with the firewall governed by a set of rules.  As incoming traffic matches acceptable rules, the firewall permits access.   The MIDPS will stringently capture and inspect all traffic, regardless of whether it’s ultimately granted or denied access.

The system analyzes each and every packet to determine its safety to the system, and if a particular packet is deemed dangerous, the system generates an alert.  A Slice of the Cloud’s security team detects, alerts, and blocks security threats including buffer overflows, stealth port scans, CGI attacks, SMB probes and NetBIOS queries, backdoors, trojans, Microsoft operating system and applications vulnerabilities, DDoS clients and many more.
